Advice I would give to my younger self

You are not broken. Society is.

Your experiences and feelings are valid. Don’t listen to anyone who tells you that you’re overreacting or being too sensitive.

You are capable of making your own decisions. Other people don’t necessarily know what’s best for you.

You deserve to be heard and respected. Don’t feel bad for speaking up for yourself and your needs.

It’s okay to ask for help. You don’t have to do everything on your own. No one is truly 100% independent. We all need help sometimes.

You don’t have to push yourself to meet neurotypical standards. It’s fine to go at your own pace.

You don’t have to prove your worth through your accomplishments, intelligence, productivity, and usefulness to society. You are already worthy, even if others don’t see it.

You don’t have to be “normal” to be happy. As long as you’re not hurting anybody, let your freak flag fly!

You will find your people. I promise, there are people out there who will accept and love you the way you are!
